An ode to the first man in my life
Countless are the number of sonnets, prose and verses
that can express our emotions true,
But here’s an ode to describe the enigma that is you.
Your daily anecdotes, we cannot get enough of,
The wisdom you bestow upon us, precious of all.
Your love for food, incomparable,
Your talent for cooking, unmatchable.
The power of patience to be learnt from you,
Always excelling in all endeavours new.
Your silence worse than your roar in anger,
But reasonable and calm you are, no bitter thoughts linger.
No matter the amount of times we fail,
You have always been there to lessen our pain.
Our protector, our saviour, our superhero,
Without you our lives would be of happiness zero.
You are the family’s might,
But also the cheer, wholehearted love and light.
My architecture models would be incomplete without you, your scaled trees and stairs,
Your limitless support all these years, nothing else compares.
Always ready to help me conquer my fears,
All my creative blocks, my tireless nights and frustration tears.
Consistently present, your guidance incessant,
The column to my beam, the parapet on which I can always lean,
The point load to my cantilever of a life,
Making his way past all problems like a cut throat knife.
Always seemed subtly funny to witness your helping hand attempts, none in vain,
Commendable were your efforts despite the lack of knowledge on the same.
We may argue, disagree and quarrel ever so often,
But through them is how we understand each other better, after the situations soften.
60 times a hidden tear,
60 times a complete smile,
60 times around you we have felt divine.
There is no book on how to be a good father continually,
But if one were to be written, you’d be the greatest father to author it undoubtedly.
